Music Video Remix Evaluation

MUSIC REMIX REFLECTION EVALUATION

To prepare for my main project I was shown how the Logic Pro software works. I learned what the bars and beats were at what they were. I used the loops and virtual synthesizer to create sounds for my practice of using Logic Pro 9.0. Before the main project had started and I made my music remix I and the class played a quiz based on Logic Pro and how and what things worked/represented. We quizzed on Kahoot.it and gained a better knowledge of what things on Logic Pro were on there.

On the main project I opened up Logic Pro 9.0 and used this program to import the One Direction song Night Changes and used the loops on the program already to create music for the vocals. I muted parts of music where I though it were right not to have that music in that place at that one time. I arranged the music to go in with vocals to ensure that the sound in contrast to voices sounded good. Once I had finished my music remix project on Logic Pro I bounced my work onto my documents and uploaded it into my Google Drive so it could be easily accessed by myself and others.

Once I had finished my music remix I had my work peer assessed by another student in the class. I had mixed feedback providing what went well and what I could improve when and if I do another music remix again. My feedback were as follows.

PRO’S The pace of the music matched well with the vocals, especially when the pitch of the vocals change, so does the music. The beat and vocals in the background also matches well with the song and the main vocals. It’s a very relaxing song with a good flow. -FILIPE

CON’S The chorus needs to be a bit more clear, maybe an additional instrument or beat to make the chorus stand out more as the same sounds throughout the song can be tiring. -FILIPE

When I was shown a list of ten songs to choose from I only knew a couple of them. Despite knowing some, I chose to remix the One Direction song Night Changes, of which I hadn’t heard before hand. I was happy with my choice of song as it was a calm paced rhythm to work with. As I did not hear the song before it was a greater experiment and I could change the tone of the music much more as I didn’t know what the original tune was.

I think that I did a good job at making sure the the sounds and music goes well with the vocals. This is because they were in pace with each other and didn’t skip out of beat. The selection of sounds and music I used also contrast each other as one is kept quite smooth yet the other a bit more upbeat. Although I believe I did a fair bit of my remix to a good standard, I don’t think that when the song flows into the chorus when the new instrument is added that they are in pace with each other, so this was a bit of a problem. Overall I think that the music remix was well done as you can hear the vocals alright and the instruments and music aren’t too overpowering.

Completing the music remix was quite challenging. I had to import the vocals and then I had to play about with additional music to create the actual remix. At the moment I’m at the stage where I know how to use Logic Pro software and realise how to use the tools on the program.

During doing research for the music remix such as quizzing and getting to know how the Logic Pro software works I was able to understand the key components of how to use and start to remix my actual project on ‘Night Changes’ with my gained knowledge of Logic Pro.

Next time I use Logic Pro I will aim to use the track strip and alte the volume and that much better so I can get a better result at the end of my music remix.
