FMP Photographs Used Explanation
Why I used the New Photography from online and from what I have taken
2000 - The first of the images of which I use for my website was a image of the Ipswich Hospital. The reason I used this image for this year is because it was the place and year that I was born. How this is nostalgic to me is that my mother can remember this being one of the best moment in her life, apparently, therefore I used the hospital to represent my birth.
2001 - The second image on my FMP website was of a baby in four positions one sitting, crawling, walking etc. I have used this image from on the internet as it is suppose to represent that progress in my baby years of where I started to walk. Again, not nostalgic to myself, but my family it was. This is because I started to walk during this year of which brought back happy and of memory for my mother to revisit especially when she sees other babies walking on their own at a very young age.
2002 - The third image I used for my website was an image of milestones. The reasoning behind this is because it was the year when many progressions from my baby to toddler stage happened. This is nostalgia to my mother as it was the year multiple milestones were finally reached.
2003 - For the fourth image, not that I remember much, however, I did see my Dad seeming very happy during 2003. Despite wearing a range of rugby tops, it wasn't until I asked his a few months ago why he seemed happier than he'd ever really been back then. He responded telling me that it was because England won the Rugby World Cup of which was a great achievement for 'us' meaning the team. Therefore I now happen to find rugby nostalgic and although I have not the slightest interest on any sport it reminds me of my father.
2004 - The fifth image I used to represent the year 2004, the strongest place I feel suits this year was Needham Lake. This is because when it was warm during spring/summer it is the first place I recall visiting with my family. And even now whenever I go down to Needham I always feel kind of relaxed and happy here having been coming here many times before.
2005 - For the sixth image I had taken the image of my brother. The reason behind him being my nostalgia is because when I hear the year "2005" he is automatically the first thing and though that comes into my head and which I associate with this year. Although there are many bad memories and arguments we've had, we both appreciate one another and respect the things we do for each other.
2006 - The sixth image, Blackpool was used as it was the most Nostalgic place thought of for the year 2006. This is because this was the first time I had ever had a Holiday out of the East Anglia Region, and having a holiday far away from home yet still in the same country, it made me feel very relaxed and happy seeing the Tower, going on the big wheel etc. Therefore I used an image online to show what 2006 as a year meant to me.
2007 - The eighth image to represent the year 2007, the waterfront in Ipswich best portrays my nostalgia. Mainly due to going down there for a day out with my Mum, Brother and Nannie. When we got there we had a walk and sat near the side looking at the boats in the waterfront, and a short while after this we heard a thud of thunder and bolt of lightning that made my Nannie run like I've never seen her do again. The story probably doesn't sound like a fairytale but it is what nostalgia meant to me this year.
2008 - The ninth image I used for my website is of Felixstowe Beach as it is a frequent place I visit, but also it is where the entire family has had happy times doing stuff together such as laying on the beach, padding and grabbing some chips to eat along the promenade. This is why I thought that this image would be appropriate for my FMP website as it shows how it is nostalgic and what Felixstowe means to me.
2009 - For the tenth year I used a picture of the tobogganing slope at the Suffolk Leisure Park. I used this image as during the year of 2009 it is one of the most memorable places I can recall as it was not only the first time I went but also that time was with my grandparents of which brings back a wave of nostalgia whenever I visit this place now in time.
2010 - This was my eleventh image taken of which taken was taken in the BBC Studios at MediaCityUK and it is of the Daleks from the television series with a banner featuring the main characters in the background. I chose to do something Doctor Who related as I have liked it ever since the TV show came back in 2005, although it wasn't until 2010 that I really started to get "obsessed" with it as my mum would say. Watching any episode brings back past memories of other episodes which all seem to make me feel nostalgic every time I watch it even now, when it is on Saturdays.
2011 - My twelfth image was of Christchurch Park, and the reason I used this picture was because this was the last year so far that we had went up in the winter sledging down the hills and having fun. This image is nostalgic as I've been to the park many times, mainly for Music in the Park, Fireworks etc. And when I walk through if I'm walking to town I look around the empty space and just try and imagine where all the people and all the laughs they were having here around it.
2012 - For the thirteenth image, I have taken an image of Foxhall/Kesgrave woods. This was because after a car boot a few years ago my mum used to go walking with me around that area. This picture of which makes me recall the times we used to do this every other week for the majority of that year while the car boots were on up there.
2013 - The fourteenth image is of the field up Lower Somersham. I used this to portray this year as it was the year of which my auntie and uncle moved down to the village of which whenever I go up I get a sense of nostalgia because I have had many walked over fields with family members that were not only relaxing but a moment to bond with more of the family.
2014 - In this year I used an image of a book and pen of which I feel represents the coursework I started as part of my GCSE’s back in 2014. I used this as it was a change from education s I knew it as I had to write more creatively and of which I actually enjoyed. Therefore I used this image as the nostalgia it resembles is when I started my GCSE courses at school.
2015 -
2016 - The seventeenth image shows when I had finally finished my GCSE's therefore the image was of my Art & Design Coursework. This is a nostalgic piece of work as the teacher we had was always joyful and supported her students when needed help which makes me feel happy when I think back.
2017 - For the eighteenth image, as 2017 is the year I am learning to drive I thought it would be quite funny and nostalgia related because it is something that I will reflect on in my future thinking back to when I was learning to drive. So this image is and will be down the road very nostalgic to me. (“Down the road” … get it? ahaha)
I found taking the images easy, as I had had a range of research to help me with what images it was I wanted to take. The harder part was the locations of which I needed to go to get to take the image.
I overcame this by ensuring that I could find stand in images of the internet for if I couldn’t get them for whatever reason.
Overall I think that the images I had used and taken turned out to be quite good as they were all very relevant to the website of which I wanted to create and I was able to use these to show the years of my life so far on a timeline of such.
Relating back to Research - I was able to use the photographer research to help me with my actual images, this is because I was able to take specific images such as the landscape ones in a way that reflects on the research I had completed.
I have also used the poster research of a few black and white images to help think of what images I could have used on the website. I used the portrait poster on this research page to help me with an image of my brother in 2005. And the black and white for the year 2016 where my artwork image is.
